First of all, happy new year to the people coming back from their vacations of crying babies on flights, to the people who survive those awkward family conversations and to the people who already broke their new year’s resolution. By the way, how is that Kale diet coming along? When January rolls around this time of year, it means time to go back to school, to work, or depending on where home is back to the snow. Everyone thinks that January is a bad month for almost anything, but if you’re smart with your time, January can be the most beneficial time ever.

2019 has been a great year in entertainment with games like Jedi: Fallen OrderApex Legends, and Pokémon, movies such as Toy Story 4IT: Chapter 2Spider-man: Far From Home (Fine, I guess I can mention Avengers: Endgame), and shows like WatchmenThe Boys, and The Mandalorian. In terms of content consumption last year, you could not ask for more because you would honestly have been obese if you did.

Listen…2019 was great but I can understand if everybody did not watch or play everything last year. That’s where January (and maybe February) comes in. Here’s the scenario, you heard about this game, let’s call it Luigi’s Mansion 3 (I told you 2019 was a lot). You saw Luigi’s Mansion, were interested, and even bought it but you don’t have the time to play it. So, you decide to shelf it and play it when the time comes. Then time passes, and more time passes, and more time passes until eventually, you realize there’s no time to play it. Enter January.

So, what’s going on in January? do we have any games coming out? any movies playing? Any events to plan? What about trips? January has almost nothing going on because everybody is either recovering from the holidays or waiting for their funds to replenish until spring and summer and businesses can’t sell as much because most customers main incentive to spend last month has already come and gone.

So, what do you do for fun during this cold and quiet month? Easy, this is the perfect month to play catch up on your media consumption. So much stuff came out last year that it’s impossible for anyone could catch everything that came out. Not everyone has seen the Mandalorian, not everyone has played Gears of War 5. Heck, I still haven’t seen Toy Story 4.

My advice, transform your sub-par back-to-school/work gloomy January into Entertainment January. Take out all the games and shows you said you didn’t have time to play or watch and use January (and February) to catch up. Think of it as a resolution that might be easy to keep up with because let’s be frank, kale sucks! Now if you excuse me, I gotta catch up a little show called Attack on Titan: Season 3 on Hulu. I heard this season is pure fire.
