Updated on February 9th, 2023

What’s up, gaming community? Welcome back to another of these small glimmers of deals. Another month, another set of free games to get with those paid subscriptions or apps. Suppose you have yet to find any good games for yourself this season. These are sure to bring some excitement this year. This article will contain a list of free games for February 2023, varying by platform (PlayStation, Xbox, or PC).

As a reminder, Epic Games will announce which game is free the week prior. Since Microsoft is planning to discontinue the availability of Xbox 360 games, that section will be removed from the article. So, I will be updating this article weekly. Without further ado, let’s begin.

PlayStation Plus Essential is a monthly subscription that offers a PS4 game and three PS5 games. Disclaimer: If your subscription expires, the games are blocked without renewal or buying the game separately. The last chance to download January-dated games is February 6th

Who’s a good Bd-1?

For February 2023, the PlayStation Plus player base will be able to download the following:

  • STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order™ (PS5/PS4) (January 2nd until February 6th)
  • Fallout 76 (PS4) (January 2nd until February 6th)
  • Axiom Verge 2 (PS5/PS4) (January 2nd until February 6th)
  • Evil Dead: The Game (PS5/PS4) (February 7th until March 6th)
  • OlliOlliWorld (PS5/PS4) (February 7th until March 6th)
  • Destiny 2: Beyond Light (PS5/PS4) (February 7th until March 6th)
  • Mafia: The Definitive Edition (PS4) (February 7th until March 6th)

PlayStation has not missed, and this month is no exception. Evil Dead is a good game if you have a group of four. OlliOlliWorld is a joy for all skateboard fans. Destiny 2 has been consistent with content, and this became an instant freebie. Mafia is the only one that doesn’t have a PS5 upgrade, but it is well deserved remaster. PS4 and PS5 free games have maintained excellent quality, and if anyone has at least PlayStation Plus Essential, they are getting a great deal.

Xbox Live Gold is a subscription that offers two Xbox Series/Xbox One games. Disclaimer: Any Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One games thru Gold will not be accessible until the subscription has been renewed. Any Xbox 360 games obtained thru Gold will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends.

For February 2023, Xbox Live Gold players will be able to download the following:

  • Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One:
    • Autonaunts (January 16th until February 15th)
    • For the King (February 1st until 28th)
    • Guts N Goals (February 16th until March 15th)

And the decline continues. Xbox and Microsoft’s primary focus is the GamePass, which has been very beneficial. But seeing Xbox Live Gold in this free fall makes it bittersweet. Now, there have been barely two games. There will likely be a resurgence soon. If not, Xbox players will need to follow along with Microsoft and see the prices of Xbox GamePass.

Prime Gaming (formerly Twitch Prime) is available to all Amazon Prime members, giving PC games and DLC to users each week and month. Amazon Luna members also get exclusive monthly free games. Disclaimer: All weekly games will be available until the beginning of next month. All non-weekly games will remain open for 365 days. I will only mention games that have been added. Some games/DLC require connecting your amazon account with 3rd –party developer websites (will be identified). Any games or DLC obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the Prime subscription ends.

Finally, we got the Epic Games Store also for the PC. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be added to the user’s library after the free period ends. Epic Games Store doesn’t require a paid subscription of any kind.

PC players for February 2023 will also be able to get the following:

  • City of Gangsters (February 2nd until February 9th)
  • Dishonored®: Death of the Outsider™ (February 2nd until February 9th)
  • Recipe for Disaster (February 9th until February 16th)
  • Warpip (February 16th until February 23rd)

February looks like a good month this year. There wasn’t anything too horrible with the list outside of Xbox. There are few grabs to get on the wish list compared to last month. There will be some more deals coming out during the month. Worst case, we’ll wait until March.

Depending on when you read this, there may be games that are still free. Other than this, that will do it for this month. Since you’re here, read my review of 2022’s biggest game, God of War: Ragnorak. While you’re at it, subscribe to me or follow me on Twitter @_urgegaming. I hope you and your loved ones have a blessed day and a merry month. Peace.
