Happy Halloween, gaming community, we are back. Another new month, another set of free games to get with those paid subscriptions or apps. This article will contain a list of free games for October 2020 varying by platform (PlayStation, Xbox, or PC).
As a reminder, Epic Games won’t announce which game is free until the week prior. So, I will be updating this article weekly. Without further ado, let’s begin.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription that offers 2-3 PS4 games and maybe (likely not) a PS3 or PS Vita game. Disclaimer: If your subscription expires, the games are blocked without renewal or buying the game separately.
For October 2020, PlayStation Plus player base will be able to download:
- Vampyr (October 6th until November 2nd)
- Need for Speed Payback (October 6th until November 2nd)
I haven’t played either of these games. But I heard Need for Speed is one of the only good ones to come out recently. Those are my thoughts.
Xbox Live Gold is a subscription that offers 2 Xbox One games and a combination between 2 Xbox 360 games or two original Xbox games. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends. All free 360 and original Xbox games will be automatically backwards-compatible with the Xbox One.
For October 2020, the Xbox Live Gold players will be able to download:
- Xbox:
- Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (August 1st until 15th)
- Costume Quest (August 16th until 31st)
- Xbox One:
- The Book of Unwritten Tales (September 16th until October 15th)
- Slayaway Camp: Butcher’s Cut (October 1st until 31st)
- Maid of Sker (October 16th until November 15th)
Prime Gaming (formerly Twitch Prime) is available to all Amazon Prime members, and it gives PC games and DLC to users each month. Disclaimer: Any games or DLC obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the Prime subscription ends.
To the PC master race for October 2020 (between October 1st until October 31st), you will receive:
- Layers of Fear
- Silver Chains
- Dead Age
- Jay and Silent Bob: Mall Brawl
- Surf World Series
- Q.U.B.E. 2 (ends October 9th)
- Rocket Arena (ends October 10th)
- Bridge Constructor (ends October 16th)
- SEUM: Speedrunners from Hell (ends October 23rd)
Lastly, we got the Epic Games Store also for the PC. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be added to the user’s library even after the free period. Epic Games Store doesn’t require a paid subscription of any kind.
PC players for October 2020 will also be able to get:
- Pikuniku (October 1st until 8th)
- ABZU (October 8th until 15th)
- Rising Storm 2 Vietnam (October 8th until 15th)
- Kingdom of Strings (October 15th until 22nd)
- Costume Quest 2 (October 22nd until 29th)
- Layers of Fear 2 (October 22nd until 29th)
- Blair Witch (October 29th until November 5th)
- Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered (October 29th until November 5th)
Overall, October is a little low on games. So far, every month has gone through a rollercoaster of with one month being high, then next month being low. September was a great month, and if you missed last month’s free games, some of them are still available. I wrote an article about all of them here.
