So far, 2020 hasn’t been a good year for, well, anything. However, game releases haven’t taken a significant hit. Several notable games came out earlier this year, from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne to Animal Crossing and Doom: Eternal. The first half kept people busy. But the second half is packing heat, and we’re about to see it in 10 different areas of the gaming community. So, here are the 10 Upcoming Games of 2020 (2nd Half).

10 Watch_Dogs: Legion
Watch_Dogs: Legion is the third game in the franchise. It takes some of the innovative things about Watch_Dogs 2, a game that still deserves a review about, and kicks into the next gear. The game sets us in the near-future of London. Instead of you controlling one character in Dedsec, the group you’re affiliated with, you’re in control of all of Dedsec. What helps this game is that you can play anyone from a former military soldier in his 40’s to an 80-year-old ex-MI6 agent, even a teenage hacker. The game introduces permadeath, meaning you have to recruit and be cautious for every mission you go on because there is no re-do. The only reason why is number 10 is that there’s no confirmed date only that is scheduled for later this year.
9 Halo Infinite
Microsoft, can you explain to me why your most anticipated next-gen game is so low on this list. I don’t mean to sound negative on a positive article, but the only reasons Halo Infinite even made the cut is a confirmed date, me playing Halo since Halo 3, so I’m invested in the franchise, and from the reveal trailer in last year’s E3, the story aims for a more grounded approach. I’m excited about the game, but I will still remain overly cautious.
8 Marvel’s Avengers
This game has gotten mixed emotions from everyone. It may sound biased, but I still look forward to this game. Marvel’s Avengers may get slander because of the character designs that look like knock-off versions of their MCU counterparts. But I still appreciate for what it is. A Marvel game that involves you playing every Avenger with their unique abilities with a story that is begging to explore. So, call me convinced. Is it worth a day-one buy? I don’t know, but at least it has a confirmed date, so I’m less likely to assume it will be delayed.
7 DEATHLOOP
A few weeks ago, Sony dropped their PS5 reveal event. What got people talking outside of the PS5 memes (seriously, it looks like they Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V the Barclay Center stadium) was the games during the reveal, and to no shock, some have made it on this list. The first one I gotta mention was Deathloop. Deathloop puts you in the assassin seat while being hunted by a second assassin that tries to keep you inside a “death loop” so you will be trapped there. The plot contains little information, and the game overall does no better, but the design looks appealing, and the deathloop mechanic alone can open some possibilities. Deathloop is a PS5 and PC exclusive coming this fall.
6 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Speaking of assassins, the next game for 2020 is Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Most of you know the drill, new AC game, new location, new time era. This time around, the franchise heads to the Nordic period and places you as a Viking to discover and conquer parts of England. Ever since AC: Unity, I took a long break and haven’t touched it ever since. But I always had a soft spot for Vikings. So, who knows, maybe this year will be the year I pick Assassin’s Creed again.
5 Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
It may sound weird why I put this game up this high on the list. Some might say why is it even on the list. Let me explain, growing up, I played a lot of deep and competitive games. After playing all of those games, it’s nice to play something calm, relaxing, whacky, or even goofy. That’s why Crash Bandicoot is on my radar. I’ve never played Crash 1-3 nor the remaster (maybe I will, in the future). But in terms of 2020 games, this game has piqued my interest. It is not because it has an academy-nominated story or intense graphics but because it’s simple to enjoy.
4 Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Another game on my radar is Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Kena is an adventure exploration game that uses a combination of battle and puzzles, and along your journey, you find and collect spirits to help. A least a decent number of people have given it the name of PlayStation’s Pikmin. Since Pikmin is a recognizable Nintendo franchise, I say it’s never a bad idea to use a working formula. There’s a small demand for another entry, so until Nintendo brings Pikmin to the Switch, I’m sure this will satisfy someone. Kena: Bridge of Spirts with be available for PS4 and PC.
3 Cyberpunk 2077
Honestly, there is so much hype for this game, people who played this game are dying to talk about it, and people haven’t wanted to grab a copy so badly. Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world action-adventure story set in the futuristic town of Night City. As far as can be publicly known, the game lets you customize your character’s looks, skills, and more to achieve the ultimate goal. What’s more, the game’s been in development by CD Projekt Red, known for popularizing the Witcher series (the games, not the show). My only hope is the game doesn’t fall under the hype its build. But if it can meet people’s expectations, this is a contender for game of the year.
2 XBX and PS5
Okay, so this one is a little bit of cheat. I have mentioned several games in this article. But some of these games are set for next-gen consoles. So, it made sense to put the new consoles at the number 2 spot. Whenever Xbox or PlayStation have a new console to put out, they brought a late shift in either direction. The Xbox 360 brought the best form of online multiplayer in the 2000s. Then we got the PS4 being consistent with bangers with Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Rachet and Clank (All of whom have confirmed sequels). Now we’re just a few months away from another generation, another era, another shift industry. With that kind of wave incoming, how could I not overlook this?
1 Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Insomniac didn’t need to give me a trailer, they didn’t need to provide me with any images. If they pulled a Metroid Prime and just gave me the title and release date, I still would have been sold. I played Spider-Man on the PS4, and it was as fun as I knew it was going to be. Spider-Man: Miles Morales already gives us a sequel with Miles as the focus with guaranteed new abilities such as his venom strike and cloak ability and on the latest piece of hardware. This game appearance didn’t just choose which games I will be playing this fall, it decided which console to get first and gave me the idea of this list. I can’t think of a better place to put this.
