COVID has canceled several conventions this summer, and the latest to join the list is PAX West. PAX is a series of gaming culture festivals involving tabletop, arcade, and video gaming. PAX is held annually in Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, and San Antonio in the United States, and Melbourne in Australia.
Ever Since the pandemic, most summer events have canceled with some going virtual or doing the wait and see approach. PAX West went with the ladder approach and officially decided to cut its losses by removing the physical festival with a virtual one.
Many people were sad to hear this news, so was I. But what was surprising to me was that this event had scheduled for a late August to early September date. Could it mean that more events at the end of summer could expect cancellations also? What about fall events?
Only time will tell what happens now.
