Gamer-boys and gamer-ladies, we have arrived here once again. It’s a new month, and that means new free games to get some downloads. This article will contain a list of free games for July 2020 varying by platform (PlayStation, Xbox, or PC).
As a reminder, Epic Games won’t announce which game is free until the week prior. So, this article will be updated weekly. Without further ado, let’s begin.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription that offers 3 PS4 games and maybe (likely not), a PS3 or PS Vita game each month. Disclaimer: If your subscription expires, the games are blocked without renewal or buying the game separately.
For July 2020, PlayStation Plus members will be able to own:
- Rise of Tomb Raider (July 7th until August 3rd)
- NBA 2K20 (July 7th until August 3rd)
- Erica (July 7th until August 3rd)
Rise of Tomb Raider is worth it at a discounted price. You can skip 2K20 because it’s gonna be irrelevant in a few months, even if it’s free. I can’t give an opinion about Erica because I’ve never seen it before.
Xbox Live Gold is a subscription that offers 2 Xbox One games and either 2 Xbox 360 games or 1 Xbox 360 and 1 original Xbox game. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends. All free 360 and original Xbox games will be automatically backward-compatible with the Xbox One.
For July 2020, the Xbox Live Gold player base will be able to download:
- Saints Row 2 (July 1st until July 15th)
- Juju (July 16th until July 31st)
- Xbox One:
- Coffee Talk (June 16th until July 15th)
- WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship (July 1st until 31st)
- Dunk Lords (July 16th until August 15th)
For me, Coffee Talk has been a fun game to play on the side so far this week. Saints Row 2 is an easy pick up if you want a crazier realization of GTA. I might snag Dunk Lords because it reminds me Street Jam a bit.
Twitch Prime is available to all Amazon Prime members, and it gives PC games and DLC to users each month. Disclaimer: Any games or DLC obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends.
To the PC master race for May 2020 (between July 1st until July 31st), you will receive:
- Turok 2: Bad Seed
- Dark Devotion
- Kunai
- Grip: Combat Racing
- Dear Esther
- Dream Daddy (ends July 3rd)
- PictoQuest (ends July 10th)
- Mad Tracks (ends July 17th)
- Reus (ends July 24th)
Lastly, we got the Epic Games Store also for the PC. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be added to the user’s library even after the free period. Epic Games Store doesn’t require a paid subscription of any kind.
PC players for July 2020 will also be able to get:
- AER: Memories of Old (June 25th until July 2nd)
- Stranger Things 3: The Game (June 25th until July 2nd)
- Conan Exiles (July 2nd until 9th)
- Hue (July 2nd until 9th)
- Killing Floor 2 (July 9th until 16th)
- Lifeless Planet: Premier Edition (July 9th until 16th)
- The Escapists 2 (July 9th until 16th)
- Torchlight II (July 16th until 23rd)
- Next Up Hero (July 23rd until 30th)
- Tacoma (July 23rd until 30th)
- 20XX (July 30th until August 6th)
- Barony (July 30th until August 6th)
- Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery (July 30th until August 6th)
Overall, July has an ambiguous series of games. I haven’t played most games here, so the only thing that attracted me was Saints Row 2 on Xbox. Twitch focuses too much on quantity over quality, and it shows. I can only wish they can offer more substance to the table next month.
