Happy New Year, gamer-boys and gamer-ladies. We are back. Not only do we got a new year of resolutions, but we also now have free games to discuss this month. This article will contain a list of free games for January 2021 varying by platform (PlayStation, Xbox, or PC). With the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X already released, make sure to read the updated information for every subscription service.
As a reminder, Epic Games won’t announce which game is free until the week prior. So, this article will be updated weekly. Without further ado, let’s begin.
PlayStation Plus is a subscription that offers PS4 and PS5 games each month. Disclaimer: If your subscription expires, the games are blocked without renewal or buying the game separately. All PS4 games mentioned will be able to play on PS5 through backward-compatibility.
For January 2021, PlayStation Plus members will be able to own:
- Maneater (PS5 only) (January 5th until February 1st)
- Shadow of the Tomb Raider (January 5th until February 1st)
- Greedfall (January 5th until February 1st)
Xbox Live Gold is a subscription that offers 2 Xbox One games, 1 Xbox 360, and 1 original Xbox game. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends. All free 360 and original Xbox games will be automatically backward-compatible with the Xbox One. As of November 2020, Xbox Series X|S will play all games mentioned here also.
For January 2021, the Xbox Live Gold player base will be able to download:
- Xbox:
- Breakdown (January 16th until the 31st)
- Xbox 360:
- The King of Fighters XIII (January 1st until the 15th)
- Xbox One:
- Bleed 2 (December 16th until January 15th)
- Little Nightmares (January 1st until 31st)
- Dead Rising (January 16th until February 15th)
I don’t know much about these games except Dead Rising. Dead Rising is a remaster of the classic game. Worth playing for Xbox players.
Prime Gaming (formerly Twitch Prime) is available to all Amazon Prime members, and it gives PC games and DLC to users each month. Disclaimer: Any games or DLC obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends.
To the PC master race for January 2021 (between January 1st until February 1st unless otherwise), you will receive:

Lastly, we got the Epic Games Store also for the PC. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be added to the user’s library even after the free period. Epic Games Store doesn’t require a paid subscription of any kind.
PC players for January 2021 will also be able to get:
- Jurassic World Evolution (December 31st until January 7th)
- Crying Suns (January 7th until 14th)

I’ve said this before, January is the quietest month of the year, and that isn’t a bad thing. There aren’t that many games to recommend because it’s literally after the holidays. If you didn’t find any video games this month appealing, look at December’s article here. Depending on when you read this, those games may still be available.
That’s it for January 2021. Thank you for reading my article. Make sure to come back here for any updates. While you’re at it, make sure you subscribe to me or follow me on the site’s Twitter @_urgegaming. Tell your loved ones you love them and have a blessed day. Peace.
