What’s up, gaming community, and happy holidays? Welcome back to another of these small glimmers of deals. Another month, another set of free games to get with those paid subscriptions or apps. Suppose you haven’t found any good games for yourself this season. These are sure to bring some excitement. This article will contain a list of free games for December 2022, varying by platform (PlayStation, Xbox, or PC).
As a reminder, Epic Games won’t announce which game is free until the week prior. So, I will be updating this article weekly. Without further ado, let’s begin.
PlayStation Plus Essential is a subscription that offers a PS4 game and two PS5 games. Disclaimer: If your subscription expires, the games are blocked without renewal or buying the game separately.
For December 2022, the PlayStation Plus player base will be able to download the following:
- Nioh 2 and Nioh 2: Remastered (November 7th until December 6th)
- Heavenly Bodies (November 7th until December 6th)
- Lego Harry Potter Collection (November 7th until December 6th)
- Divine Knockout: Founder’s Edition (PS5/PS4) (December 6th until January 3rd)
- Biomutant (PS5/PS4) (December 6th until January 3rd)
- Mass Effect: Legendary Edition (PS4) (December 6th until January 3rd)
PlayStation doesn’t have a bad game for this month. Picking up Mass Effect it’s a steal due to being three games in one package with all DLC included. Biomutant was an underrated surprise for me when I played it, and I recommend people play it, also. PS4 and PS5 free games have and remain consistent with their quality, especially for the holidays.
Xbox Live Gold is a subscription that offers a combination of two Xbox Series/Xbox One games or one Xbox 360 game. Disclaimer: Any Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One games thru Gold will not be accessible until the subscription has been renewed. Any Xbox 360 games obtained thru Gold will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the subscription ends. Xbox One and Series games will be unavailable if the subscription ends.
For December 2022, Xbox Live Gold players will be able to download the following:
- Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One:
- Dead End Job (November 16th until December 15th)
- Colt Canyon (December 1st until 31st)
- Bladed Fury (December 16th until January 15th)
Is it just me, or have Xbox free games had a drop in quality and quantity? Earlier in the year, they would have four games available. Now, there have been barely three games. I hope there will be a resurgence soon. If not, Xbox players will need to adjust expectations.
Prime Gaming (formerly Twitch Prime) is available to all Amazon Prime members, giving PC games and DLC to users each month. Disclaimer: Any games or DLC obtained will be permanently added to the user’s library even after the Prime subscription ends. Some games/DLC require connecting your amazon account with 3rd –party developer websites (will be identified).
To the PC master race for December 2022 (between December 1st and January 1st), you will receive the following:
- Free until December 31st:
- Quake
- Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow
- The Amazing American Circus
- Banners of Ruin
- Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons
- Spinch
- Desert Child
- Doors: Paradox
- Free Amazon Luna until January 1st:
- Windjammers 2
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero
- Dusk
- The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf
Brothers is an excellent game considering it was made by the same development team that made It Takes Two. I recommend this game if you want something between a significant other or a family member.
Finally, we got the Epic Games Store also for the PC. Disclaimer: Any games obtained will be added to the user’s library after the free period ends. Epic Games Store doesn’t require a paid subscription of any kind.
PC players for December 2022 will also be able to get the following:
- STAR WARS™: Squadrons (November 24th until December 1st)
- Fort Triumph (December 1st until December 8th)
- RPG in a Box (December 1st until December 8th)
- Saints Row IV Re-Elected (December 8th until December 15th)
- Wildcat Gun Machine (December 8th until December 15th)
December looks like a good month this year. There wasn’t anything too horrible with the list outside of Xbox. There are few grabs to get on the wish list compared to last month. There will be some more deals coming out during the month. Worst case, we’ll wait until the New Year.
If you still wish to look for more free games available, make sure to read November’s edition of the article. Depending on when you read this, there may be games that are still free. Other than this, that will do it for this month. Make sure you come back here for any updates. While you’re at it, make sure you subscribe to me or follow me on Twitter @_urgegaming. I hope you and your loved ones have a blessed day and a merry month. Peace.
